The Myth
Once upon a time there was a very beautiful princess with black hair and rosy cheeks, and her name was Embona.
Her beauty fascinated the world. Embona however was closed in herself and her only amusement was the walks she took every day in the forest, she didn't want to hear any conversation for marriage. Uselessly her parents insisted... she was inconvicible.
The time passed and loneliness languished the beautiful Embona... Until one morning as she was leaving for the forest she announced to her parents with her soft beautiful voice: "I will be married to the one that will bring me the strangest and more expensive gift."

With joy the parents made the decision of their one and only daughter known to everybody. Gifts reached from all over the country but Embona was unmoved. As the time passed the parents lost their hope and desire of getting their daughter wed. One day as she was seated in the veranda of her room something pulled her attention. A proud bird that was not from her local town made curious acrobatics. With her melancholic look she approached it.

Then suddenly the bird with human voice told her ... " I learned that you do not want to be married my sweet Embona. I come from foreign places. My boss is a good young hard working man, beautiful as a prince, but very poor, all day and night works in the vines..." The bird spoke to her for hours and she heard very carefully. I want to meet him... she said with sparkling eyes.
Days passed until one afternoon as she was sunk in her thoughts, she heard a knock . She run out of her seat and faced the young man. "I was sent by the cuckoo". Shyly he gives her a bottle of deep red wine. "This is my gift for you sweet Embona" and he bended with charm in front of her. Her heart glowed and from her eyes came out flames. She was drunk from love, drunk from the wine...

Their marriage took place with glory. From then Embona asked every day this wine and everybody worked hard in order never to be short of it . She named it CUCKOO like her curious friend with the human voice.
